Your new companyA company in central York has a permanent part-time vacancy for a People's Assistant in the HR Team working 21 hours per week and hybrid working is offered.Starting on £14,448 PA (£24,080 FTE) after successful completion of probation, rising to £15,135.6 PA ( £25,226 FTE)3 full days a week from 9am until 5pm with at least one office based on Wednesday or Thursday.Your new role

  • Acting as first point of contact for queries and information requests, providing general advice to employees and managers on HR policies and procedures (e.g. holiday, disclosures, pay).
  • Taking responsibility for high volume administration of the HR system, ensuring that information is actioned, and employees are paid correctly.
  • Processing offers and ensuring all pre-employment checks including basic and enhanced disclosures, references and health questionnaires are completed ahead of new starters joining the organisation.
  • Processing recruitment campaigns - this will involve contacting candidates, arranging interviews, booking rooms and ensuring campaign processes are followed.
  • Ensuring a consistent approach to administration processes as part of a national team, identifying areas for improvement and taking necessary action.
  • Ensuring new starter checks are processed in a timely manner, including basic and enhanced disclosures, references and health questionnaires.
  • Ensuring invoices are raised and authorised in a timely manager through liaison with the Finance department, external providers and internal budget holders.
  • Assisting colleagues in the People and Culture Team with tasks such as annual pay review administration, taking notes at formal meetings, archiving information to other sites and ad hoc projects.
  • Production of all HR related documentation to the required standard and correct priority, in a timely manner.
  • Continuously demonstrate inclusive behaviours, valuing everyone's contribution, and promoting a culture of openness.
  • You will learn about our Health and Safety Policies, procedures, and risk assessments, allowing you to take care of your own personal safety and that of others.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Experience of working in an administrative, ideally people related, role where you have processed high volumes of work with accuracy and correct priority, in a timely manner.
  • A great approach to customer service and a good service ethic.
  • Experience of working as part of a team using shared email systems and shared spreadsheets.
  • An approachable, professional manner and the ability to demonstrate tact and confidentiality.
  • Confidence using Microsoft Office software, specifically Word, Outlook and Teams and online systems.
  • Confidence when working with numbers.
  • Effective organisational and time management skills with the ability to work on your own initiative.
