Special Needs Teaching Assistant

GSL Education are seeking compassionate and dedicated Special Needs Teaching Assistants tomake a positive impact on students' lives. You will be supporting Secondary aged pupils with a special educational needs’ diagnosis, such as autism, physical disabilities, multi-sensory impairment and speech, language and communication needs.
Special Needs Teaching Assistant Responsibilities:
- Under the expert guidance and supervision of teachers, you will be delivering different learning activities, ensuring you are differentiating and tailoring activities to meet individual pupil needs.
- Encourage students to collaborate and communicate with one another.
- Participate in creating, organising, and carrying out students' individual development plans.
- Promote positive behaviour within school.
Special Needs Teaching Assistant Requirements:
- Must hold the Right to Work in the UK.
- Relevant qualifications in education or SEN support (e.g., Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant or Health and Social Care qualification).
- Training in behaviour management and de-escalation techniques is desirable.
- Experience working with children or young people who have a variety of disabilities and/or learning difficulties.
- Be aware of and knowledgeable about different additional needs such as ASC, ADHD, MLD and SEMH and the behaviours they can display.
- Be confident in the delivery of pre-planned lessons and interventions.
- Hold a Child only or Child and Adult DBS registered to the update service or be willing to apply for one through GSL Education.
