QA/QC Manager – Competitive salary, based on experience– Dunnington, York & Wilton

The Role

Do you have a strong background in microbiological quality control and a proven track record in managing quality systems? Are you ready to lead a small, skilled team in a growing biotech company shaping the future of sustainable agriculture?

We are looking for a QA/QC Manager to oversee quality assurance across our microbial product portfolio. You'll play a central role in developing and managing quality systems while leading a small, high-performing team. This is a hands-on role for someone who thrives in a dynamic environment and is eager to make a meaningful difference.

You'll report to the Operations Manager and work closely with Regulatory and Product Development teams. This role will be split between our sites in York and Redcar, with roughly 50% of your time at each location.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and manage quality systems for our microbial products
  • Lead and support a small QA/QC team in routine testing and operations
  • Oversee raw material quality and liaise with suppliers
  • Manage quality checks and inventory of bulk intermediate products from CMOs
  • Ensure final products, including packaging, meet required quality standards
  • Support regulatory submissions by providing accurate quality documentation
  • Drive improvements in lab and production processes
  • Assist with formulation trials, stability studies, and microbiological testing
  • Report regularly on quality performance and project updates

The Person

We're looking for someone who:

  • Has 5+ years of experience in microbiological QC/QA in industries like food, pharma, or diagnostics
  • Is comfortable working with CMOs and managing inventories
  • Holds a degree in a relevant science or manufacturing discipline
  • Pays close attention to detail and can manage multiple tasks
  • Works well with others and brings a proactive mindset
  • Communicates clearly and confidently
  • Is experienced with Microsoft Office; familiarity with inventory tools is a bonus
  • Enjoys taking ownership and achieving team success
  • Valid driving license (essential)
