The Naval & Oceanic Systems business unit headquartered in Annapolis, MD is seeking dependable individuals willing to work in a collaborative environment and that are interested in expanding their horizons. This position is a dual role that encompasses materials and corrosion engineering as well as mechanical design and analysis. The core role will focus on materials engineering support for the Annapolis campus. Additional experience with mechanical design and analysis will support the primary role and provide tasking flexibility based on site demands. Roles and responsibilities include, but not limited to: Applying principles of chemistry, physics, and material science to investigate material issues and provide solutions. Applying corrosion mitigation methods across complex systems. Analyzing and researching materials and their related application processes for use in engineering design. Working in a team environment to perform detailed technical reviews of drawings, specifications, processes, and manufacturing plans. Performing complex engineering design, development, analysis, and/or test activities to support assigned projects. Applying engineering principles to adapt or improve upon heritage features from previous successful designs of a similar nature. Making an extra effort to provide quality customer service. Constantly seeking new sources of information and providing information necessary to meet customer needs. Managing test activities and test article fabrication, including documentation of results. Interacting with senior customer personnel on significant technical matters, often requiring coordinated activity across organizational lines. This requisition may be filled as either a Principal or Sr. Principal Systems Engineer.
