LSF is looking for a talented Vocational Coordinator who wants to make an impact in the lives of others.

Purpose & Impact:

Coordinates and manages vocational and pre-vocational training. Plans and implements community outreach events, coordinates job acquisition programs, and provides support for clients to prepare to obtain and maintain employment.

Essential Functions:

  • Oversight of vocational program inclusive of areas such as: Daycare, Culinary and Hospitality, CNA and Cosmetology Program. 
  • Ensure all programs comply with grants associated with program reporting. 
  • Manage emails, phone calls, coordinate meetings, and ensure efficient workflow and effective communication with staff, residents, and volunteers.  
  • Develop and implement vocational and technical ideas, plans, and training programs for youth in the program.  
  • Administer all testing and assessments required for vocational department and report to supervisor.  
  • Organize events, speakers, and arrange for youth to go to job fairs, college campus visits, understand job functions and job responsibilities.  
  • Oversee food and other related items for culinary/hospitality program.
  • Organize and oversee all program events for vocational department.  
  • Responsible for meeting with staff, volunteers, ordering supplies, decorating, cleaning up, and shopping.  
  • Manage calendar for large room books and food and beverage needed.  
  •  Research curriculum for vocational programs so employment for youth can be expedited for part time jobs if the client has completed vocational training.  
  • Work on special projects such as outreach, education, or unique events with minimal supervision.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or required.

Other Functions:

  • Must demonstrate sensitivity to our service population’s cultural and socioeconomic characteristics and needs

Physical Requirements:

  • Able to sit and stand for extended periods of time, utilizes telephone, computer, and other office equipment.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours and weekends.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required.

Experience:

  •  Two years' experience working with diverse youth client base in an organized/structured setting.

Skills:

  •  Must have strong organizational skills, attention to detail,
  • Must have leadership qualities and problem-solving skills. 
  • Able to work independently and with minimal supervision (initiative).
  • Initiative and follow through to ensure all assignments are completed.

Other:

  • Ability to successfully pass a Level II background screening and drug test. 
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record for last (2) years. 
  • Authorized to work in the United States. 

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Reports to Life Skills and Education Supervisor.
  • Must be a team player.
  • Accurate, complete and timely submission of required reports and documentation.
  • Effective working relationship with clients.
  • Adherence to LSF policies and procedures.
