LSF is looking for a talented Education and Life Skills Supervisor who wants to make an impact in the lives of others.

Purpose & Impact:

Oversee and assists in the implementation of the educational, vocational, and life skills programs to ensure alignment of learning standards with effective special education teaching practices, literacy and life skills development.

Essential Functions:

  • Oversee the enrollment of youth in appropriate school and grade level; provide enhancements needed to help the youth be most successful academically and vocationally with an awareness of life skills that will help them transition into adulthood from foster care.  
  • Coordinate completed youth education/service plans within 7 days of resident arrival.  
  • Coordinate needs list with designated co-workers for staffing, supplies, donations and thank you cards. 
  • Collect assessments; report cards, evaluations for quarterly reporting.  
  • Assist program staff with implementing academic, life skills, and vocational programs.
  • Works with local schools, restaurants, and other community resources to enhance and expand the vocational programing.  
  • Organize all Life Skills, Academic, and Vocational curriculum material within budget.
  •  Assist with all program preparations.
  •  Work with Life Skills and Education Manager to develop Summer Program.
  •  Oversee all events, speakers and outings.
  •  Manage the calendar for Lakeside Center.
  •  Ensure shopping for programs is within budget.
  •  Ensure that the program facilities are clean and well maintained; establish chores for youth and provide oversight to staff.
  •  Attends all training and meetings as required by state and federal guidelines.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or required.

Other Functions:

  • Must demonstrate sensitivity to our service population’s cultural and socioeconomic characteristics and needs
  • Work on special projects such as outreach, education or special events with minimal supervision.

Physical Requirements:

  • Able to sit and stand for long periods of time, utilizes telephone, computer, and other office equipment.
  • Able to work in a fast paced environment.
  • Must be able to work flexible and weekends.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required.

Experience:

  • Two years’ experience working with diverse youth client base in an organized/structured setting.

Skills:

  •  Must have strong organizational skills, attention to detail,
  • Must have leadership qualities and problem-solving skills. 
  • Able to work independently and with minimal supervision (initiative).
  • Dependable and reliable.

Other:

  • Ability to successfully pass a Level II background screening and drug test. 
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record for last (2) years. 
  • Authorized to work in the United States. 

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Reports to Life Skills and Education Manager
  • Must be a team player.
  • Accurate, complete and timely submission of required reports and documentation
  • Effective working relationship with clients (providers).
  • Adherence to LSF policies and procedures.
