Commercial Manager Job Summary

We are seeking a Commercial Manager to be responsible for managing and developing the company’s commercial shipping activities, including overseeing chartering operations, optimizing fleet utilization, and building strong relationships with clients. The role involves negotiating charter contracts, identifying market opportunities, and ensuring that the company's vessels are efficiently deployed to maximize revenue. 

Commercial Manager Responsibilities

  • Monitor market conditions, freight rates, and competition to identify opportunities for growth and to enhance revenue-generating activities.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with charterers, brokers, ship owners, and other industry stakeholders to secure long-term contracts and strategic partnerships.
  • Work closely with the operations and technical teams to ensure smooth coordination of chartering activities, vessel scheduling, and performance.
  • Develop and execute commercial strategies that align with the company’s long-term goals, focusing on sustainability, cost-efficiency, and client satisfaction.
  • Prepare and present regular market analysis and reports to senior management, offering insights and recommendations on market trends and operational performance.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable international regulations, such as IMO, and stay updated on industry developments, trends, and legal requirements.
  • Collaborate with finance and legal departments to review contract .
  • Oversee freight negotiations, contract administration, and invoicing processes to ensure accurate and timely billing.

Commercial Manager Position Requirements

  • Degree in Science majors;Maritime Degree is a plus
  • 4 – 5 years working experience in maritime shipping operations or chartering—dry bulk related experience is a plus
  • Strong analytical and logical deduction capability
  • Sufficient Excel user capable of conducting voyage calculations and other analytical calculations
