Northrop Grumman Space Systems (NGSP) seeks to find a C++ Software Engineer in the Payload and Ground Systems Division Engineering organization supporting Integrated National Systems (INS) Business Unit (BU) to support a Ground program. This position may be located at either our Morrisville, NC, or Fairfax, VA sites. (compensation varies per location) This position requires being onsite and does not support remote or hybrid work. As a Software Engineer, you will be on the Command-and-Control team where you will design, develop, document, refactor, test, and debug applications software for a Ground Segment. Ultimately, you will support the program through maturity and milestones to achieve the mission. This role is for one experienced software developer who may be familiar with Command and Control. This individual must have C++ and Python experience in a RedHat Linux environment. Development is done within the Agile paradigm using the Atlassian tool suite. The work is full-time in the office. The qualified candidate must have and be able to maintain a clearance. The successful candidate will have Software development experience, with the ability to digest changes and synthesize them into working designs, generate efficient code according to the specifications, and adapt to changes as necessary that are driven by bugs or specification updates or the customer. The candidate is expected to operate independently with little oversight in a dynamic environment, and to be highly self-motivated, reporting information to leads and the customer. The individual is expected to handle diverse assignments with efficiency, finding unique solutions and working in a very collaborative and fast-paced environment that continues to grow. We have multiple Software Engineering positions across the Ground program, on contract to deliver the Ground Segment for a restricted space program. This work spans command and control, mission planning and scheduling, mission processing, and system infrastructure. We have anticipated future growth to deliver additional ground capabilities. This requisition may be filled at either a level 3 (Principal) or a level 4 (Sr Principal), depending on the candidate’s experience as laid out in the basic qualifications detailed below as well as the interview assessment. Basic Qualifications Must have an active Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) DoD clearance at time of application Must be willing to submit for and successfully pass a polygraph Minimum years of experience needed to be considered: Level 3 (Principal): 5 Years of relevant experience with a completed bachelor’s degree 3 Years of relevant experience with a completed master's degree 1 Years of relevant experience with a completed Ph.D. 7 Years of relevant experience with a completed associate’s degree 9 years of relevant work experience in lieu of a completed degree (High School diploma or equivalent is required) Level 4 (Sr Principal): 8 Years of relevant experience with a completed bachelor’s degree 6 Years of relevant experience with a completed master's degree 4 Years of relevant experience with a completed Ph.D. 10 Years of relevant experience with a completed associate’s degree 12 years of relevant work experience in lieu of a completed degree (High School diploma or equivalent is required) Must have above minimum experience on the below: Angular and Node.js Past experience with GUI development Atlassian tool suite (Jira, Confluence, BitBucket, etc.) Agile Preferred Qualifications STEM degree Favorably adjudicated polygraph Experience with the CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins) Experience with automated testing Excellent technical writing and team-building skills Experience with Command and Control To better support our employee’s work/life balance, most NG worksites support a 9/80 work schedule.
