OBJECTIVES/PURPOSE   

Reporting to the Head of BioLife Facilities & Program Management and as a member of the BioLife Facilities team, this role contributes toward BioLife’s mission of ensuring a seamless experience for employees and donors working at or visiting our centers through excellence in facility management that can help promote a positive experience that encourages repeat donor business.

This role’s primary focus includes:

  • Develop and Implement a best in class Freezer and HVAC Program
  • Ensure all air handling and freezer systems operate and perform optimally at US BioLife Centers and Testing Labs.
  • Provide oversight of suppliers providing facility management services to the BioLife Centers and Facilities for HVAC and Refrigeration. Maintain alignment with suppliers and execute robust relationship management to maintain effective communication.
  • Develop strategy for identifying and implementing new technologies/equipment to improve performance reliability, reduce emissions and reduce expense.
  • Drive strong governance regarding performance and cost of HVAC & Freezer program
  • Manage SME on HVAC/Refrigeration team

ACCOUNTABILITIES

Develop continuous improvement strategies while working with HVAC/R suppliers to improve service and functionality

  • Monitor, track and work closely with facility management partners and critical asset suppliers in freezers and heat and cooling control systems.
  • Support the development of aging asset replacements listing to include prioritization and coordinate projects with the CAPEX Prog Management team.
  • Review and endorse all scope of work beyond contract agreement (i.e., reactive spend above value or above base work) as required to maintain the centers
  • Support sustainability initiatives across the portfolio.
  • Stay current on new and changing refrigerant requirements mandated by the EPA , state governments and technological advancements to identify opportunities for process improvement and innovation
  • Support operations with freezer design changes when needed.
  • Support quality in developing new freezer and HVAC documents Establish, maintain and update as necessary key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness and efficiency of HVAC and freezer programs. Identify potential risks to HVAC and freezer systems and developing mitigation strategies
  • Developing and managing budgets for HVAC and freezer programs as well as continuing to monitor expenses and identifying cost-saving opportunities.

EDUCATION, BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field plus 5-year experience in a similar environment preferred; or Bachelor’s degree in unrelated field and 5+ years’ experience in a similar environment.

Desired:

Bachelor’s degree in related field

Laboratory facility management experience preferred

Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills.

U.S. Base Salary Range:

149,100.00 - 234,300.00

The estimated salary range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The actual base salaryoffered may depend on a variety of factors, including the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job. The actual base salary offered will be in accordance with state or local minimum wage requirements for the job location. 

U.S. based employees may be eligible for short-term and/or long-term incentives. U.S.based employees may be eligible to participate in medical, dental, vision insurance, a 401(k) plan and company match, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, a tuition reimbursement program, paid volunteer time off, company holidays, and well-being benefits, among others.
