Northrop Grumman Space Systems Sector, Tactical Space Division in Dulles, VA, seeks a qualified and experienced Consulting Systems Engineer to serve as the Chief Engineer for a high priority program within the space security business unit. This candidate will initially serve as deputy to the current serving Chief Engineer for a short period of time, taking over CE responsibilities for the production phase. Primary duties will include: Assist senior program leadership on shaping customer acquisition strategy, Leverage NG capabilities and technologies to meet customer needs goals and objectives, Coordinating internal responses to cross-segment issues and providing high level briefings on major decision points to CE and program director, Ensuring that proper engineering processes and practices are followed, Planning and managing technical reviews, Providing technical oversight to major FRB/MRB/Anomalies, Working with the segment lead systems engineer to: Ensure that the technical baseline managed, Ensure that givers / receivers, GFx and other roadblocks are quickly identified and countered, Leading / supporting on-ramp of new system capabilities through studies or ECPs, Mentoring, training, and directing junior staff. Candidates will also demonstrate an attitude and approach founded in the following key characteristics: Data Driven: Able to coordinate and organize large amounts of data from a diverse team into key take-aways, Schedule Driven: Quickly driving issues to closure or decision point, Demonstrated track record of being a solutions oriented high energy problem solver, Able to focus on short term objectives and understanding how they fit into the longer term plan. The candidate will work with cross-discipline team members and must have excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work with a diverse community of engineers and managers to achieve the goals of the program team. Basic Qualifications: This position requires being onsite and does not support remote work, Must have U.S. Citizenship with a current or active TS/SCI Clearance at time of application, BS Degree in Engineering or related technical field and at least 16 years of applicable experience, or an MS Degree and 14 years of applicable experience. Experience with space mission development / architecture as well as spacecraft design, development integration and test, Experience working medium size or larger Government programs, Experience leading a team of engineers, Experience leading failure review boards and anomaly investigations, Demonstrated strong communication skills (verbal and written) with experience briefing executive and customer leadership, Proposal Experience, Worked in the Space Security Domain. Preferred Qualifications: >10yrs of direct experience with Space systems, Current Program access, Exposure to GeoStar-1 Space vehicle design and production, Knowledge of aerospace environmental testing standards, Experience with ground segment design, development, and sustainment, Established network of contacts in other NG divisions/sectors/programs, Experience with mission sustainment, evolution, and mission assurance processes, CAM / engineering project management experience.
