Position Description
The Warehouse Supervisor will support the Warehouse Manager in overseeing the day-to-day operations of the warehouse, shipping and receiving area. This position ensures that customer needs are met through the timely and efficient movement of products and materials in a high volume, fast paced distribution environment. This role will also support cost control including overtime, management and expense control.
Shift: 8am -5pm (day/possible night or split shift)
Essential Functions
- Plan and executes logistic needs with trucking firms to ensure timely pick-up and delivery of shipments, while minimizing freight cost.
- Establishes priorities and directs loading workforce to satisfy customer demands.
- Implements and enforces processes aimed to create a maximum inventory consistency and accuracy.
- Reviews and resolves operational problems to minimize cost and prevent operational delays.
- Manages the assigned business metrics/ budgets including yield, labor efficiency, and overhead expenses.
- Demonstrates leadership to warehouse employees to ensure consistent quality of work.
- Maintains effective communication of expectations and goals throughout the warehouse environment.
- Ensure compliance to all OHSA and environmental regulatory and corporate standards.
- Investigate and identify root causes of any non-compliance.
- Accountable for a safe working environment through the development of strategies focused on accident reduction as well as energy and waste minimization.
- Will fill in for Warehouse Manager as needed
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor/manager.
Requirements
Education & Experience:
- Undergraduate Degree in a related field (or equivalent experience) plus three (3) years experience in warehouse logistics management required. Strong leadership capabilities in a fast-paced production environment required.
- Previous experience in the food/beverage manufacturing industry preferred.
Position-Specific Skills:
- SAP or other supply chain software experience required.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office (Windows, Excel, & Outlook) with the ability to learn new applications as required.
- Initiative, the ability to work independently, strong customer service orientation, strong written and verbal skills and flexibility, vision and creativity.
- Ability to prioritize and multi-task in an organized, detailed manner, given limited time frames.
Physical Demands:
- Physical - Continuously standing or walking.
- Visual/Sensory - This position requires regular need to give moderate attention with one or two senses at a time.
- Work Environment - Work and environment are very repetitive.
Climate: This position requires the incumbent to have the ability to work in ambient hot and/or cold seasonal environments.
