Opportunity

This is more than a job posting for Kohler Company, one of the oldest and largest privately held companies in North America. This is an invitation to collaborate and apply your craft to the reliability and maintenance of both manufacturing and plant assets.

Develop, implement, or recommend appropriate actions to management that will maximize maintenance labor and material effectiveness and optimize company equipment and facility utilization through the application of mechanical engineering technology, diagnostic equipment, and analytical techniques.

This position will require occasional travel time.

Specific Responsibilities

Asset Reliability

  • Monitor and review the reliability and maintainability of processes and equipment using metrics such as mean time between failures (MTBF) and mean time to repair (MTTR).
  • Use bad actor analysis to systematically analyze the effectiveness of existing maintenance strategies for process or infrastructure equipment, and lead maintenance optimization projects.
  • Lead root cause failure analysis (RCFA) teams as required for frequent, serious, or safety related incidents.

Maintenance Strategies & Programs

  • Partner with various maintenance and operations groups to create maintenance strategies for key assets or processes using FMEA’s, OEM recommendations, and accepted industry best practices.
  • Create bills of materials for equipment using best practices to determine stock quantities.
  • Collaborate with master data processing team, ensure full and accurate master data for equipment is entered into CMMS.

Predictive Technologies

  • Drive the Kohler Co. maintenance organization to world-class status by developing and implementing innovative maintenance and reliability practices.
  • Manage and maintain Kohler’s vibration analysis program. Interpret and trend vibration data for key equipment and recommend corrective actions based on analysis of severity.
  • Utilize various predictive tools and technologies to improve reliability of assets.
  • Lead smart factory initiatives by implementing and improving various continuous monitoring systems.

Design for Reliability and Continuous Improvement

  • Perform maintainability reviews of new or problematic equipment and collaborate with project managers and key stakeholders to implement necessary improvements.
  • Provide input for and improve the condition assessment ranking system that drives the capital plan for the replacement of key infrastructure equipment.
  • Develop company-wide standards and procedures for maintenance processes.

Precision Maintenance

  • Manage the strategic maintenance of critical equipment and provide expertise for overhauls of rotating assets.
  • Mentor junior maintenance personnel in areas of precision maintenance to reduce induced failures and improve overall reliability.
  • Analyze the effectiveness of maintenance techniques and work with maintenance teams to improve various maintenance programs, including oil analysis, lubrication, infrared scanning, vibration analysis, and laser alignments.

Skills/Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering Technology, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or equivalent degree with previous hands-on maintenance experience is required.
  • Three to seven years of experience in an industrial setting is preferred.
  • Certified Maintenance Reliability Professional (CMRP) certificate will be required within 2 years of employment.
  • CMMS experience desired, SAP knowledge is a plus.
  • Competent use of Microsoft Office products is required.
