Develop fighter aircraft lighting requirements based on military specifications. This includes exterior lighting (anti-collision, navigation, formation, aerial refueling, etc…), interior lighting (footwell, map, entryway, etc…), landing lights, internal bay lighting, and lighting control and compatibility with night vision imaging systems. Layout lighting type, color, intensity, arrangement, and control with an understanding of installation and electrical power requirements. Responsible engineer activities, which include all aspects of sourcing and/or managing system/component design and development including trade studies, layouts, architecture definition support, system test & verification support, and troubleshooting. These activities may also include participating on a subcontractor management team and will act as the technical point of contact with suppliers for component development, qualification, and procurement. Facilitate design reviews with key stakeholders to ensure designs meet requirements. Candidate must be able to collaborate in a team environment, prioritize multiple responsibilities and/or accomplish them simultaneously, and comprehend and analyze complex problems and develop solutions. Basic Qualifications: This requisition may be filled at either a Principal Engineer Electrical or a Sr. Principal Engineer Electrical level. For a Principal Electrical Engineer position, a Bachelor’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) field from an accredited university with 5 years of experience in electrical design of air vehicle systems, OR Master’s degree with 3 years of engineering experience in electrical design of air vehicle systems. For a Sr. Principal Electrical Engineer position, a Bachelor’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) field from an accredited university with 8 years of engineering experience in electrical design of air vehicle systems, OR Master’s degree with 6 years of engineering experience in electrical design of air vehicle systems. Your ability to transfer and maintain the final adjudicated government secret clearance, and any program access(es) required for the position within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company. Experience with military fighter aircraft exterior and internal lighting specifications and design. Experience with military aircraft subsystem development, with requirements definition, specification development, component analysis, procurement, source selection, integration and test and verification for advance aircraft. Preferred Qualifications: Familiarity with MIL-STD-3009 Knowledge/experience with IR and visible light spectrums Previous experience troubleshooting / providing liaison experience in the lab and AC environment.
