Position Overview:
To support shift operations through the maintenance and repair of plant production equipment, support equipment, and facilities.
Duties And Responsibilities:
- Maintain plant apparatus room, which includes air compressor, vacuum pumps, air dryer, cooling towers, circulating pumps, smog hog, and heat exchanger.
- Maintain plant production equipment including front end, washer, back end, and end line equipment.
- Maintain pumps in tank farm, both pneumatic and hydraulic.
- Maintain and repair bulk fluid delivery system.
- Perform required PM&R of waste treatment area.
- Fabricate parts for the repair of systems or equipment.
- Assist other areas as needed such as new equipment and installation.
- Perform repairs to building and grounds.
- Maintain and repair coolant filtration and delivery system.
- Maintain & repair building environmental controls and HVAC, such as fans, cooling/heating units, make-up air units.
- Keep accurate logs and records of work performed.
- Ensure proper operation of boiler.
- Maintain proper housekeeping in shop and other areas of work.
- Assist in other areas as needed to maintain a smooth flow of cans through the plant
- Performs other job-related duties as required or assigned.
- Able to perform complete overhauls of all required equipment and machinery.
- Ability to troubleshoot and determine cause of faults, breakdowns, and failures.
- Working knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatic systems, chemical properties and proper handling requirements, plumbing, electrical, various power transmission equipment, and HVAC systems.
- Able to read blueprints.
- Understand pump operations, CFM’s, pressures, and be able to make repairs, rebuild, and overhaul pumps as needed.
- Communication skills needed to evaluate needs of customers/vendors, order parts, and explain problems. Basic computer skills necessary to collect data and document P.M.’s.
- Understand the function and operation of all plant can-making equipment, knowledge of OSHA requirements and safe work practices.
- Understand gearboxes, chains and sprockets, rations, and speeds of various power transmission equipment.
- Able to operate drill press, band saws, mig/tig/stick welding of all types of metals and materials, cutting torches and plasma cutter, sheet metal fabrication tools, and have a working knowledge of hand tools and power tools.
- Able to operate fork truck and lift equipment.
- Understand city, state, and federal regulations regarding certification of work and permit requirements.
- Understand procedures regarding ordering parts and materials.
- Ability to use precision measuring devices.
