Research Scientist I - Material Science

As a Principal Engineer, you will be designing and leading the material science related aspects of innovation and exploratory work, new product development, testing, and qualification for medical devices and drug products. You will work closely with multiple cross-functional organizations supporting programs intended to launch new products. Applies in-depth knowledge and technical expertise in polymer science, chemistry, and engineering to optimize material (thermoplastics and thermosets) properties. With minimal guidance, schedules and leads a team through the planning and execution of a smaller project or defined piece of a larger project using various engineering and scientific techniques, procedures and criteria. This includes constructing detailed, accurate project schedules, interfacing with development groups and technical support groups. Communicates key information and recommendations to influence technical decisions and strategies in a timely manner. Defines material requirements and develops specifications in accordance with manufacturing, marketing, and customer expectations and design requirements. Devises new and innovative approaches to complex problems through adaptations and modifications of standard technical principles. May provide technical mentoring to entry level engineers and scientists.
