POSITION SUMMARY

The Assistant Nurse Manager is a registered nurse who, using critical thinking skills, coordinates the clinical activities within the Department and collaborates with other members of the health care team. She/he directly and indirectly supervises the care rendered by all department staff members. She/he assumes house supervision duties as assigned. The Assistant Nurse Manager collaborates with the Manager and/or Director to plan, organize and supervise delivery of care/standards of practice in the procedural departments through staff RN's, OR Technicians, Sterile Processing techs and ancillary staff so as to meet the needs of patients and medical staff on a 24-hour basis. Assumes overall management responsibilities in the absence of the Director or Manager. . Responsible for the general management of patient/customer concerns including resolution and service recovery. Identifies opportunities for improvement in patient satisfaction and participates in all customer service activities. Increases communication and awareness across the organization to improve patient satisfaction. Also responsible for the optimum use of resources to maximize productivity and minimize costs as well as other duties as assigned to meet department and organizational needs.
