Job Summary

This position of a Layout Technician maintains product integrity and quality through gage inspections that require close tolerances of +/- .0002. Part correlations and first article inspection to satisfy and customer needs.

Essential Functions

  • Utilize CMM to perform first article, gage correlation & gage inspections and blueprints
  • Perform surface plate layout inspections.
  • Record data either manually or by computer as required.
  • Perform gage inspections/surveillance.
  • Perform gage correlations to customer’s blueprints.
  • Perform first article inspections to customer’s blueprints.
  • Maintain environmental controls in layout department/toolroom.
  • Calibrate inspection equipment.
  • Perform diamond roll, and CBN wheel inspection.
  • Contact Engineering with questions/problems as needed.
  • Interact with Engineering, outside vendors, and outside customers.
  • Develop procedures and recommend associated standards in keeping with ISO10012 compliance.
  • Actively participate, promote and comply with all EHS programs and policies.
  • Follow policies and procedures as outlined in Employee Handbook.
  • Perform all other job duties as assigned

Education:

  • High School diploma
  • Certificate programs in operating metal, preferred
  • Courses completed in computer programming, shop and blueprint reading, preferred

 

 Skills and Abilities:

  • Use of elementary geometry, algebra, and trigonometric principles together with complicated drawings / blueprints, specification charts and tables advanced skills knowledge required for this position.
  • Considerable judgment is required to plan and perform work where only general methods are available and in the making of broad decisions.
  • Knowledge with computer operations (CAD, Solidworks).
  • Ability to solve difficult problems by identifying and evaluating complex issues and review related information in order to develop and evaluate options for solutions
