E & I Technician

Our clients are a specialist Integrated Service Solutions provider for plant turnarounds, operations and maintenance, plant integrity (find and fix), engineering, design, construction and commissioning. They focus on the safe and efficient delivery of services to support clients to increase plant uptime, improve asset performance and optimise operating expenditure.

This is a great opportunity to form part of a national installation and servicing team. You will be based in Scotland, traveling to Onshore Industrial Sites where you will be installing and testing process instrumentation packages.

 

Overview:

 

The overall purpose of the role is for the site delivery of the electrical installation & pre-commissioning activities across various project work-fronts throughout the organisation.

You must have a sound knowledge of on-site project delivery within the agreed programme of works. And be able to demonstrate the ability to deliver work-fronts utilising the business processes and procedures, strong communication skills, and performance throughout ensuring a high standard of quality is maintained by the site installation &commissioning teams.

 

Main duties:

 

- Assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus, and fixtures, using hand tools and power tools.

- Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes, forming part of the Scotland-wide Area 7 E+H ASP site team.

- Test electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using standard test equipment devices to ensure compatibility and safety of systems.

- Layout and installation of electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures, based on job specifications and local codes.

- Perform business duties such as maintaining records and files, preparing reports and completing timesheets.

- Ensure all related quality control procedures and processes are followed adhering to the company's policies and procedures.

- Liaising with the Site Manager/Supervisor on a day-to-day basis to ensure quality and service delivery is being maintained and highlight any risks and work as a team to provide a solution to any service delivery or QHSE issues.

- Travel to client/customer sites with potential for overnight stay onshore site work on an ad-hoc basis (additional payments/allowances/retention bonus received).

- Demonstrate an understanding of current electrical wiring regulations to BS7671.

- Demonstrate ability to complete & input into the required certification & testing regime.

- Demonstrate ability to interpret Risk Assessments & Method Statements.

- Demonstrate competency level to ensure status in line with the company's electrical safety procedures including electrical isolations & process instructions.

- Demonstrate understanding of electrical & instrument design documentation with the ability to complete any instructed onsite design changes and completion of red-line mark-ups of "As-built" drawings.

 

Knowledge and experience:

 

- Electrical Control Systems & LV Distribution.

- Equipment glanding & terminating within both hazardous & non-hazardous areas.

- Basic understanding of process instrumentation

 

Qualifications:

 

- HNC in Electrical and Electronic Engineering or demonstrate time served electrical apprenticeship & completion of SVQ Level 3 Electrical Installation or Instrumentation & Controls.

- Certificate of Medical Fitness for Onshore & Offshore Employment.

- CompEX Trained, EX01-EX04

- C&G 18th Edition IET Wiring Regulations.

- ECS Gold, CSCS or CCNSG Safety Passport.

 

Salary and Benefits:

 

- £45,000 per annum + uplift in pay for Site work (details below)

- £50 per day uplift for Onshore Site work and £80 per day uplift for Offshore Work

- 28 days holiday per year plus bank holidays

- Pension
