Role Overview:
An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Financial Controller to join a well-established business in the food industry. This role will support the Head of Finance in managing the finance department, ensuring financial efficiency, and driving continuous improvements in financial systems and processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Team Management: Lead, support, and develop the finance team.
- Financial Processes & Controls: Maintain standard operating procedures and internal controls.
- Reporting & Analysis: Work with senior leadership and department heads to create, maintain, and report on key financial and operational indicators.
- Cost Control: Oversee standard cost updates and maintenance.
- Financial Systems: Manage accounting software and its integration with other systems.
- Transaction Processing: Supervise the handling of invoices, bank transactions, petty cash, accruals, and prepayments.
- Cash-flow Management: Maintain operational cash-flow forecasts and oversee banking operations.
- Financial Reporting: Prepare and present weekly finance reports, monthly management accounts, and detailed financial reconciliations.
- Statutory Compliance: Ensure all tax and regulatory returns are submitted (VAT, PAYE, National Insurance, etc.).
- Audit & Year-End Accounts: Prepare audit schedules and year-end financial statements.
- Business Planning: Assist in building the annual business plan and supplementary forecasts.
- Stakeholder Relations: Manage relationships with banks, auditors, and key business partners.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Represent finance in leadership meetings and contribute to business-wide improvements.
Candidate Requirements:
Essential:
- Professional accountancy qualification (CA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent).
- Minimum 2 years of post-qualification experience in an industry setting.
- Proven experience in a finance management role, with strong leadership and team development skills.
Desirable:
- Experience in the food or manufacturing sector.
- Strong analytic and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of financial systems and process improvements.
