Senior Planner/Planning Manager x 2

Location: Hampshire

The Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a busy Planning departmentin Hampshire. They are looking for two experienced Senior Planners or Planning Managers to join the land and planning team. This is a hands-on role that will see you managing the planning process from site inception through to securing planning permissions and beyond.

You will work on projects ranging from 30 to 200 units, as well as future land promotion initiatives, ensuring that no two days are the same. Reporting directly to the Land and Planning Director, this role is ideal for someone with experience within a Planning Consultancy, Local Authority, or Residential Developer.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and submit planning applications, conditions, and appeal documentation to Local Planning Authorities, including necessary research on previous applications.
  • Manage the submission and monitoring of planning applications.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Represent the company at Planning Committee Meetings and Public Consultation Meetings.
  • Maintain accurate records and office work systems, ensuring up-to-date computer records.
  • Stay informed on Local Planning Authorities' policies and Local Plan Reviews.
  • Monitor and review local planning policies, including strategies related to transport, economy, sustainability, climate change, and heritage considerations.
  • Conduct research to support planning applications.
  • Engage and manage external consultants, including engineers and other specialists, as required.
  • Collate and maintain public consultation evidence in line with the planning process.

Experience & Requirements:

  • Degree in Urban Planning, Geography, or a related field.
  • Minimum of five years' experience as a Planner or higher.
  • Strong understanding of planning processes and regulations.
  • Experience addressing the public, council officers, and committee members in public forums.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications.
