Reed Education Southampton are currently seeking a passionate and dedicated Head of Geography to fulfil a permanent, full-time position within a 'Good' Secondary school, based in Andover!

The school has an excellent reputation within the local community, boasting fantastic facilities including a Multi-Use Games Area, recently refurbished library and gymnasium, expansive grounds and so much more! They have recently opened their renovated 'Inclusion Space' which has bespoke classrooms and break-out space for their nurture and SEND students. The school pride themselves on a culture of high support and expectations, and have excellent relationships with families and the community who work closely with the school.

As the Head of Geography, you will lead the department, ensuring that all teachers are in position to provide all students with an excellent education. You will not only be an excellent practitioner, but you will lead, coach and support effectively to be excellent teachers too! You will set a clear and strategic vision for your department, design and deliver a curriculum that is stimulating and engaging for students, and implement department-wide strategies to ensure all students enjoy and excel within the subject.

What are the requirements for the role?

  • Qualified Teacher Status and a degree in a relevant subject
  • Evidence of recent professional development related to teaching and learning
  • Proven track record of being an exceptional teacher, with experience making a positive impact on student performance
  • A deep knowledge of the subject and curriculum, with the ability to support students of all ages and abilities to achieve
  • Ability to lead, coach and motivate staff and manage conflicting demands
  • Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to delegate appropriately
  • Previous subject leadership or similar is desired but not essential
