We are seeking a reliable and adaptable Teaching Cover Supervisor to join our school and contribute to the seamless continuation of learning in the absence of regular teachers.You will be working for Hays Education and be part of an industry-leading agency. We recruit to over 80% of schools in the region. We offer a wide range of staffing solutions to local secondary schools, including ad-hoc day-to-day supply, long-term cover and permanent appointments.Cover Supervisor and Supply Teachers play a crucial role in supporting schools during critical periods by offering specialised subject cover or general teaching assistance when regular staff members are absent. The duration of these roles may vary, and many temporary positions serve as potential pathways to more permanent teaching opportunities.Role and Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and manage classrooms in the absence of teachers, ensuring a safe and conducive learning environment.
  • Deliver pre-prepared lesson plans and materials across various subjects and grade levels.
  • Engage students in learning activities, answer questions, and provide support during the lesson.
  • Maintain discipline and uphold school policies while promoting a positive classroom atmosphere.
  • Report back to regular teachers on students' behaviour, progress, and any concerns during the cover period.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 30 days experience as a cover supervisor in classroom settings within the last 2 years
  • Previous experience working with students or in a school environment is advantageous.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with students and staff.
  • Ability to follow instructions, manage classroom dynamics, and handle unexpected situations with flexibility.
