Our client is one of the UK’s fastest-growing Medical and Scientific Distribution Companies with plans to double the business within the next three years. With sites in Banbury, Cambridge and Wales, the Business Development Manager role offers the opportunity to work in this fast-paced and dynamic environment. They are seeking to find an individual who understands their Purpose, admires and lives their Values and would contribute to their ever-developing culture. Your core task is to introduce and nurture fresh business openings in distribution, partnerships, and potential acquisitions. Collaborating closely with senior management across various group companies, your key responsibility is to propel new business opportunities throughout the organisation. Expertise in the medical sector is vital for this role, it will involve discussions and negotiations with industry partners, suppliers, manufacturers, and medical staff. Proficiency in project management, international business, and adherence to regulatory standards provides a significant advantage. Strong financial acumen is essential, and a background in sales and marketing within the medical sector would be a compelling asset for this role.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Work with the senior management team to identify areas which are of interest for growth
  • Develop and implement effective business development strategies to drive revenue growth and achieve sales targets.
  • Identify and engage key decision-makers within target organisations, building strong relationships and understanding their needs.
  • Conduct market research to identify potential clients, market trends, and competitive landscape within an existing or new product line or industry sector
  • Identify new Manufacturers which complement the existing business structure or form the anchor for strategic development within the business and result in the launching of new products/brands to market
  • Prepare and deliver compelling presentations, proposals, and business cases to potential clients and for prospective pitches, showcasing the values of the company and its ability to develop brands/products in the Market.
  • Work closely with the Marketing team to develop strategic sales and marketing plans for the boarding of all new partnerships
  • Work with the Sales Management, company representatives and marketing team to ensure the successful onboarding of any new partnerships
  • Identify potential acquisitions or bolt-ons which would complement the current business
  • Represent the company at industry conferences, trade shows, and networking events to identify potential partnerships.

Previous Experience/Qualifications:

  • Proven track record of success in business development within the Medical or Scientific fields.
  • Strong business acumen and ability to identify and capitalise on market opportunities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Exceptional negotiation and presentation skills, with the ability to influence decision-makers.
  • Self-motivated, results-oriented, and able to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Willingness to travel as required to meet clients and attend industry events.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent is preferable.

Additional Information:

  • Please note this is a full-time, permanent role working Monday - Friday 9 am - 5 pm although flexibility is required for meetings and site visits.
  • Suitable candidates can be based anywhere in the UK with an expectation to be at an office location twice a week. (Banbury, Cambridge or Wales).
