We are looking to recruit a Commodity Buyer, with the main purpose to meet company goals, not only for cost and quality but also innovation and delivery.

Working with a leading automotive supplier the main duties of the role will include supplier selection and strategy, meeting all business and project requirements. Identifying a variety of business goals for cost improvement and striving to continuously achieve your goals. Set the supplier performance targets and communicating these in a clear and concise manner.

Responsibilities of the Commodity Buyer:

  • Support the engineering change management of the supplied materials and components.
  • Participate in continuous improvement processes, including supplier quality, cost and innovation.
  • Manage all SAP related function, which are relevant to both supplier and commodity.
  • Maintenance of the purchasing database, budgets, spends and suppliers.
  • Raise quality care points, whilst also liaising with other departments regarding any quality concerns.
  • Participate in training and development programmes, sharing your knowledge with the wider teams.

What we are looking for in the Commodity Buyer:

  • A good communicator, who is both organised and methodical.
  • A tenacious and results driven person with a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Previous experience in purchasing, ideally within an engineering or manufacturing environment.
  • Experience and an understanding of APQP, PPAP, TS-16949, cost tracking and quotation analysis.
  • Excellent influencing and negotiating skills.
