We are seeking a Business Support Officer to join the Yorkshire Council in Barnsley. This role involves taking minutes at Children Safeguarding Conferences and performing follow-up work on a specific database. The successful candidate will provide an effective business support service to a diverse range of front-line and statutory services in accordance with relevant government legislation and guidelines.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Take minutes at a minimum of 3 Children Safeguarding Conferences per week, both in Barnsley Town Centre and across the borough.
  • Follow up on conference outcomes by updating specific databases accurately and promptly.
  • Provide an efficient and confidential business support service to front-line and statutory services.
  • Handle telephone and face-to-face enquiries, offering advice, guidance, and support to internal and external customers.
  • Respond to various types of correspondence and manage incoming and outgoing information.
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders, maintaining effective communication and information links.
  • Organise and coordinate meetings, manage diaries and appointments, ensuring all arrangements are suitable for attendees.
  • Analyse data, evaluate information, and produce reports suitable for various audiences including senior managers and public members.
  • Perform administrative duties efficiently, managing interruptions and conflicting demands from customer queries and requests.
  • Handle financial administration tasks such as placing orders and processing payments.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in a similar role, ideally within a governmental or regulatory environment.
  • Strong ability to take detailed minutes and follow up on actions.
  • Excellent organisational and coordination skills.
