The OpportunityDelighted to be representing a leading B2B food manufacturer in Yorkshire, recruiting for a newly created role as General Manager. This role will lead a successful facility into the next phase of growth.Role Overview: As the head of the site, the General Manager will oversee Operations, Commercial, Technical, HSE, and Engineering, driving innovation and product development to explore new opportunities.Purpose: As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, the Head of Site is responsible for the design, delivery, and implementation of the site’s business agenda, supporting overall profitability and growth plans for the overseas business. They will manage the operational and commercial performance of the site.Key Responsibilities:
  • Track market conditions, input costs, and sales prices; align sales agreements with procurement; support strategic discussions; build strong customer relationships; identify new business opportunities; lead R&D.
  • Manage day-to-day operations; ensure compliance, efficiency, and productivity; implement best practices for continuous improvement.
  • Recommend and lead process changes to deliver project value.
  • Support H&S Manager; promote routine audits and risk assessments.
  • Ensure high technical standards; monitor service levels and complaints.
  • Manage site P&L; set budgets; ensure adherence to targets; interpret commercial data.
  • Manage site management team performance; set objectives; provide training and development; build effective stakeholder relationships.
  • Review and improve business processes; consult on sustainable practices.
  • Minimise costs and waste; monitor and implement corrective actions.
Skills & Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Management, Operations, or related field (desirable).
  • Proven success as a senior leader in the food/ingredients industry.
  • Strong commercial awareness and negotiation skills.
  • Excellent understanding of innovation and operational procedures.
  • Experience leading operations in food manufacturing.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; customer-centric approach.
  • Strong financial acumen; experience in P&L management.
  • Team player with high professional standards and integrity.
  • Resilient and capable of handling pressurized situations.
  • Confident risk-assessor and decision-maker.
  • Strong leadership presence; ability to inspire and motivate teams.
