We are seeking a dedicated and experienced 1:1 Additional Learning Needs (ALN) Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming Primary School in Barry. This role will involve providing tailored support to a pupil with behavioural challenges and difficulties maintaining focus. The position is due to last until the end of the academic year (July 2025), with the potential for further opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide 1:1 support to a pupil with ALN and Specific Learning Difficulties.

  • Assist in managing the pupil's behaviour and encourage positive engagement in learning activities.

  • Implement tailored strategies to help the pupil stay on task and achieve their learning objectives.

  • Work closely with the class teacher and SENCo to deliver individual learning plans.

  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment.

  • Record and monitor pupil progress, providing feedback to the wider team.

Requirements:
  • Previous experience working within a primary school setting supporting pupils with ALN and behavioural needs.

  • Strong understanding of Specific Learning Difficulties and strategies to support learning and behaviour.

  • Ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents.

  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service and registration with the Education Workforce Council (EWC) - or willingness to obtain both.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
