Our client is seeking an experienced Assistant Accountant to join their busy finance team and support a variety of routine and ad-hoc financial tasks.

The role involves collaborating with the Head of Finance and 2 other finance team members, requiring a broad skill set in areas such as sales, purchase, and nominal ledgers, payroll, VAT, and general ledger management.

Proficiency in Excel is essential, and experience with ERP systems is advantageous.

The role is office based 5 days and they do offer flexi-hours (min 35 hours pw)

Key Responsibilities:
  • Managing general ledger entries, journals, and reclassifications.
  • Performing balance sheet reconciliations and maintaining the fixed asset register.
  • Assisting in preparing management accounts, budgets, forecasts, and audit processes.
  • Producing monthly internal and external project reports.
  • Conducting bank reconciliations and cashflow reporting.
  • Supporting the operation of time and attendance systems and ERP development.
  • Providing occasional cover for sales and purchase ledger tasks.
  • Handling additional ad hoc projects and reporting as needed.
Person Specification:
  • Part-qualified ACA/ACCA/CIMA or qualified by experience (QBE).
  • Strong knowledge of double-entry bookkeeping and UK tax (preferred).
  • Proficiency in IT tools, especially Excel, with familiarity in Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and a logical, organised approach.
  • Ability to work independently and flexibly within a small, collaborative team.

This role is suited to someone experienced and proactive with strong interpersonal skills to interact effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
