I'm recruiting on behalf of an innovative engineering company based in Beccles, who are looking to expand their design team with the addition of an experienced Electrical Design Engineer.



Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and clients to define and deliver the electrical design scope for various projects.
  • Produce electrical schematics and layouts for complex machinery and systems.
  • Ensure all designs adhere to relevant industry standards, regulations, and internal procedures.
  • Identify and reduce design-related risks with a strong focus on safety.
  • Maintain compliance with internal design assurance and audit processes.
  • Generate electrical parts lists and bills of materials from approved designs.
  • Support the sales team with technical input for quotations and production costing.
  • Provide technical support during the build, testing, and commissioning phases.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement by reviewing and enhancing existing designs.


Requirements:

  • Degree-qualified or completed a relevant apprenticeship in electrical engineering.
  • Proficient with AutoCAD and experienced using EPlan.
  • Background in electrical design within the automation or special purpose machinery sector.
  • Ability to interpret and create detailed electrical schematics.
  • Strong understanding of electrical safety standards and compliance.
  • Logical thinker with excellent problem-solving ability.
  • Comfortable working independently and as part of a team.
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Confident using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).


Desirable Skills (not essential):

  • PLC/HMI programming experience (e.g., Mitsubishi, Allen Bradley, B&R, Festo).
  • Knowledge of motion control systems and 6-axis robotics.
  • Familiarity with script-based programming.
