A local charity in Carlton, Bedfordshire, is looking for a dedicated Cook/Chef to join their team on a temporary contract. This role offers the opportunity to provide wholesome meals to in-house companions.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Prepare, cook, and assist in serving lunch and dinner for up to 50 companions at lunchtime and 30 at dinnertime.
  • Cater to a variety of tastes with a focus on old-fashioned home-cooked meals, including pasties, jacket potatoes, and salads for lunch, and a single meal option in the evening. Traditional fry-up every Friday. Roast dinner every Sunday.
  • Ensure the dining and kitchen areas are clean by wiping down tables, assisting with washing up, and maintaining overall kitchen cleanliness.
  • Work collaboratively with another staff member to provide a pleasant dining experience for companions.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in a similar role is desirable.
  • Ability to prepare and cook meals for many people up to 50.
  • Knowledge of basic food hygiene and safety practices.
  • Good organisational skills to manage the preparation and serving of two main meals.
  • A basic DBS check will be required to start this role.
