Yard Operatives Needed!
Location: Thurleigh, Bedford MK44
Type: Full-Time
Pay Rate: £25,000 per annum
Hours: Monday to Friday, 7:30am - 4:00pm
Job Overview:We are seeking a dedicated Yard Operative to join a friendly, supportive team, with the daily operations. You will play a vital role in maintaining an efficient, safe, and organised yard while contributing to the overall operations of the department.
Key Responsibilities:
Operational Duties:
- Maintain a clean and safe yard, ensuring that risks are minimised and reporting any concerns to management.
- Perform regular service, inspection, and maintenance of equipment.
- Assist in preparing equipment for jobs and selecting items according to load lists.
- Load and unload equipment from various vehicle types, securing loads using ratchet straps.
- Work closely with operations personnel to monitor stock levels, ensure stock is ready for dispatch, and partake in annual stock checks.
- Ensure equipment labelling procedures are followed.
- Complete procedures for near misses, accident reporting, and damages.
- Accurately report load lists, items not returned from the site, and stock shortages.
- Ensure adherence to the Health & Safety at Work Act, reporting any accidents promptly.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Previous experience in a yard or operations support role preferred but not essential.
- Strong attention to detail, with the ability to work safely and efficiently.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work well within a team.
- A commitment to health and safety regulations.
