Do you want to have ownership for a varied range of mechanical design projects from end-to-end?
If variety is the spice of life then this is the vindaloo of mechanical design engineering roles.
The company designs and modifies robots and automation equipment used in a broad range of industrial applications, which may involve rotating equipment, high-precision accessories, robotic arms etc.. The mechanical design engineer will actively engage with customers to develop customised designs that meet with their specifications, and then work closely with the production teams to assemble the final products.
This is a small company with less than 50 staff, and it is critical that the mechanical design engineer and production team build close working relationships with one another. As the sole mechanical design engineer in the business, the assembly teams will look to you for direction and leadership, so you must be comfortable with the responsibility and (genuinely) be a good team player.
You will already have experience in SolidWorks 3D mechanical design, and a few years of experience in designing products with complex moving parts.
With it being a small team and the necessity for close working partnerships, it is expected that you will be in Bedford (where all design and production operations are based) most of the time, although flexibility can be provided for those who need it.
