Chef De Partie

Hours Per Week- 32 Hours

Shift Times between 4x 8 hour days (2 weekends in 4)

We are recruiting on behalf of our client for a Chef De Partie to support those when they need it the most within their retirement residence. Our client is their retirement provider and they deliver person-centred care, supporting independence and honouring choice to help our residents live their best lives.

Purpose of position:

To support the Head Chef in the preparation, cooking and presentation of all meals to high standards of quality and quantity. Observe the correct economic and hygienic use of materials and equipment and help in the smooth running of the catering department.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and cook food in accordance with food hygiene regulations. Be aware of residents and clients dietary needs and respond to their comments and requests in respect of the menu.
  • Be involved in the preparation and serving of the meals on the hotplate, as required. Ensure that all food is used within the prescribed period, with particular attention paid to perishable (high risk) goods.
  • Dispose of waste correctly.
  • Help to maintain a clean and hygienic kitchen. Notify the Head Chef, Head of Hospitality or Manager of any defective machinery or equipment immediately.
  • Be aware of and understand all relevant company policies and procedures in particular Health and Safety, COSHH, food hygiene regulations and risk assessments.
  • Deal on the telephone and face to face with all members of the public, the care home and the staff group in a professional and courteous way.
  • Comply with the sites guidance policies at all times.
  • Attend both internal and external training courses as appropriate to identified training needs.
  • Perform such other duties as may be reasonably required.

Key Skills / Qualifications needed for this role:

  • Passionate about food, you'll have experience working in the care industry, ideally catering for customers with special dietary requirements.
  • An understanding of health and safety procedures, ideally with an NVQ or equivalent City & Guilds and CIEH Level 2 Food Safety Award or Equivalent.
  • Open to new ideas, you'll have an innovative yet organised approach to cooking, always adhering to high standards and remaining calm during a busy service.
  • You'll enjoy working with others, working together to create and deliver an excellent dining experience at each meal.
