ABOUT THE ROLE:

Reporting to the Mechanical Engineering Team Leader, the Mechanical Design Engineer will assist in the design and manufacture of products at various stages throughout projects and provide mechanical design support to the Electrical design team in product design as required. Based in our offices in Carrickfergus, the Mechanical Engineer will be part of the mechanical engineering team and there may be a requirement to travel from time to time.

KEY TASKS

* Use customers CAD data to produce drill file information for fixture manufacture.

* Revise and update existing specifications and drawings to incorporate requested design changes from engineering, manufacturing or quality assurance.

* Design new parts or assemblies to meet design requirements using 3D CAD systems

* To liaise with the end customer or other design teams to ensure that design specifications are met.

* To work with existing suppliers and source new suppliers as required.

* Support the operation of the CNC and Pacer machines as needed.

* Operate workshop equipment, i.e. lathe, mill, etc.

* Carry out any other task that may be required from time to time

ABOUT YOU

* Educated to Degree level in Mechanical Engineering

* Experience in both two and three dimensional design software

* Experience with Solidworks and AutoCAD or similar

* Valid passport and a full driving license

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS

* Experience in working with workshop equipment, such as lathes and mills.

* 2+ years' experience in a similar role KEY SKILLS

* Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel

* Ability to meet deadlines and work in a fast-paced environment

* Be self-motivated, be able to manage time and set priorities

* Excellent communications skills, both verbal and written

* Work well under pressure
