Spencer Clarke Group are seeking a Housing Triage Officer for a Local Authority Client based in Thundersley.

In this role, you will provide frontline housing advice, conduct housing assessments, support administrative functions, and work collaboratively with internal and external partners to prevent homelessness and ensure individuals receive the appropriate housing support.

About the role:

You will be tasked with delivering key strategic objectives:

  • Provide housing advice, triage services, and assist with homelessness prevention; process housing register applications and allocate properties.
  • Offer administrative support to the Housing Options Team, assist with mutual exchange applications, and maintain accurate records.
  • Conduct housing assessments, provide expert advice on alternative housing options, and facilitate financial administrative tasks.
  • Identify safeguarding issues, attend multi-agency meetings, and assist in drafting reports and updating relevant documents.

About you:

The successful candidate will have the following skills / experience:

  • Experience working in a public-facing administrative role, in a housing or local government context.
  • Experience providing advice and a triage service to people at risk of homelessness.
  • Conducting housing assessments and advising on alternative housing options.
  • In-depth knowledge and experience of the Housing Reduction Act 2007 and applying relevant housing legislation to assess eligibility and prioritise cases.
  • Experience with financial management processes, including monitoring income and expenditure, and processing budgetary information.

What's on offer:

Salary: £20+ph

*may negotiate higher for exceptional candidates, based on experience*

Contract type: 6, months minimum, with a high likelihood of extension

Hours: Monday to Friday, 37 hours per week
