My client is looking for a number of Senior HR Officers to join their team in Beverley. You will be responsible to deliver a range of high quality, efficient and effective Human Resources services to support senior leaders and managers to achieve their key strategic objectives. To provide advice and support of both a generalist and specialist nature on complex human resources issues, i.e. disciplinary, grievance, capability, attendance, harassment, service reviews, redundancy and TUPE.

Duties to Include

  • Provide effective advice and guidance on all Human Resources matters by interpreting policies and procedures and employment law (i.e. disciplinary, grievance, capability, attendance, harassment, service reviews, and TUPE etc).
  • Implement relevant and appropriate practices on a range of Human Resources issues, i.e., recruitment, retention, disciplinary, grievance, capability, attendance, harassment, service reviews, and TUPE etc.
  • Provide a professional and proactive approach to ensure that the Council takes the necessary steps in relation to transformational change, restructures and reviews and redundancy in keeping with current and future employment legislation requirements.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with Trade Unions to resolve individual cases and deliver effective consultation on Human Resources issues.
  • Understand and apply local and national terms and conditions of service, policies and practice to ensure consistent implementation and management of Human Resources issues across the client.
  • Manage, lead, support and develop Human Resources Officers and less experienced Human Resources staff to help meet section and team objectives and ensure that performance measures are met

Key Skills & Experiences

  • CIPD qualified (Level 7).
  • Previous HR experience in Local Government or public sector.
  • Experience of working competently and confidently with legal material, including precedents, case law and legislation.
  • Demonstrate broad based Human Resources experience in a large multifunctional organisation with an emphasis on employee relations (eg disciplinary, grievance, capability, attendance, harassment, service reviews, and TUPE etc).
  • Worked at a senior level. Demonstrates a level of knowledge, understanding and ability to support others.
  • Experience of undertaking transformational change, restructures and reviews keeping with relevant employment legislation requirements.
  • Successfully negotiated change, involving trade unions.
  • Ability to advise on HR policies and procedures.
  • Builds working relationships with key individuals. Works collaboratively, facilitating decision making, allowing issues to be shared and agreed solutions reached.
  • Promotes effective employee relations with employees and recognised Trade Unions.
  • Full Driving Licence and ability to travel both within and outside the East Riding.
