An award-winning multidisciplinary practice is seeking a Senior Town Planner to join their growing team in their York office. The practice is known for delivering innovative and sustainable solutions across architecture, planning, and design, working on a diverse range of high-profile projects in sectors such as residential, commercial, and mixed-use developments.

About the Role:

  • Lead a variety of planning projects, including residential, commercial, and mixed-use developments.
  • Provide expert planning advice and guidance to clients throughout the planning process.
  • Manage and mentor junior staff, fostering their development and providing support.
  • Oversee the preparation and submission of planning applications, appeals, and Local Plan representations.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, including local authorities and partners.
  • Play an active role in business development, identifying new project opportunities.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead planning projects, managing all aspects of the planning process.
  • Prepare and submit planning applications, appeals, and Local Plan representations.
  • Advise clients on planning strategies, ensuring compliance with regulations and policies.
  • Mentor junior staff, providing guidance and development opportunities.
  • Manage relationships with clients, local authorities, and other key stakeholders.
  • Contribute to the growth and expansion of the planning services offered by the practice.
  • Support business development efforts and help identify new project opportunities.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • 4+ years of experience as a Town Planner, ideally within a planning consultancy or similar environment.
  • Full membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) or working towards it.
  • Proven track record in leading planning projects and managing client relationships.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with clients and stakeholders.
  • Experience managing and mentoring junior team members.
  • Strong knowledge of planning processes, policies, and regulations.
  • Proactive, with strong project management and problem-solving skills.
