Job Purpose
The Employment Advisor (EE) plays a key role in supporting individuals who have been out of work for extended periods. You will work with job seekers, helping them overcome employment barriers by providing outstanding case management, advice, advocacy, and signposting to essential services. Your work will empower clients to develop realistic action plans that boost their confidence, independence, and overall wellbeing, enabling them to secure sustainable employment.
Principal Accountabilities
Manage a high volume or complex caseload, guiding new and existing clients through the job search process and ensuring detailed evidence is captured.
Motivate and support clients in their job search, including benefits and economic assessments, by developing personalized action plans and facilitating access to pre-employment training.
Organize and support local recruitment initiatives, including job fairs, employer open days, outreach events, and redundancy projects.
Deliver employability support using the Individual Placement and Support (IPS) and Supported Employment Quality Framework (SEQF) models, ensuring clients job start needs are met.
Coordinate employment interviews and referrals to training, assisting individuals in accessing sustainable employment opportunities.
Develop and deliver engaging workshops covering service introductions, CV preparation, interview techniques, application form completion, and themed job clubs.
Assist clients in creating and updating CVs and personal statements, and facilitate employer introductions where appropriate.
Maintain accurate client records by tracking activities, monitoring progress, and auditing files to record interview attendance and employment outcomes.
Produce weekly reports on caseload progress and achievement of outcomes while upholding data protection and GDPR standards.
Continually update your industry knowledge and build effective partnerships with local agencies, employers, and other key stakeholders.
Candidate Profile
Educational & Professional Requirements:
- GCSEs in English and Maths (or equivalent)
- A relevant professional qualification or a willingness to work towards one
- Proven experience in a recruitment or employment advisory role, supporting individuals to meet employment goals using structured action plans
- Sound knowledge of the Welfare to Work benefits system
- Proficiency in Windows and the full Microsoft Office Suite, with the ability to navigate databases effectively
- Experience in managing a self-directed caseload and achieving employment outcome targets
- Understanding of the barriers that hinder access to employment and experience in addressing these challenges
- Familiarity with best practices in information security and data protection
- Excellent communication skills, with the confidence to speak clearly and adapt your vocabulary to suit different situations
- Strong listening skills with the ability to understand and address client needs
- An approachable demeanor that enables you to build rapport with a diverse range of individuals
- Proven ability to tailor your approach for clear, effective communication even in complex situations
