We're seeking a detail-oriented and ambitious Assistant Management Accountant to join a dynamic marketing business based in the heart of Birmingham city centre. This exciting role is initially temporary, with plans to convert to a permanent position after six months, offering the perfect opportunity to trial the position before committing.

This role focuses on accounts payable responsibilities, making it an excellent chance for someone with a solid accounts payable background to transition into an Assistant Management Accountant position. You'll gain exposure to various finance functions, including budgets, forecasting, and cash flow, in a collaborative and supportive environment. Due to the temporary nature of this role, we are ideally looking for people who are immediately available or on a one week notice for this role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process invoices accurately and efficiently.
  • Reconcile supplier statements to ensure timely payments.
  • Assist with month-end reporting tasks, including balance sheet reconciliations and cash flow preparation.
  • Assist with preparing the management packs for the current Management Accountant.
  • Eventually, start providing commentary on the management account packs, looking at trends and discrepancies.
  • Collaborate with teams to support budgeting and forecasting processes.
  • Maintain and improve Excel-based financial reports.
  • Provide ad-hoc support to the finance team as required.

Ideal Candidate Attributes:

  • Previous experience in accounts payable is essential.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, with strong analytical and data management skills.
  • Currently studying or recently completed a finance qualification (e.g., degree, AAT).
  • Eager to learn and step into an Assistant Management Accountant role, even without prior experience in this position.
