Financial Controller

Duration:     6 months initially

Location:     Birmingham (Hybrid working)

Pay Rate:    £256 per day PAYE (inclusive of holiday pay)

Hours:        37.5 hours per week, Mon-Fri

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Support the Chief Financial Accountant (CFA) to ensure that the Trust and its subsidiary companies (the ‘Group’) comply with all statutory and mandatory external financial reporting requirements. This includes the preparation of the annual accounts for the Trust, its subsidiary companies and the overall consolidated group accounts as well as regular reporting to NHS Improvement
  • To maintain the overall integrity and accuracy of the Group’s financial ledgers
  • To manage the Financial Accounting, General Ledger and Treasury teams, capital and taxation as well as the Accounts payable function on a day-to-day basis
  • To optimise the Group’s cash management to maximise value and minimise liquidity risk
  • To ensure, in conjunction with the CFA, that the Group complies with tax law and all other relevant financial legislation
  • To liaise with the external auditors, Local Counter Fraud Specialist and taxation advisors
  • To provide expert advice on complex accounting issues and changes to accounting rules

Essential Requirements:

  • NHS Experience
  • Fully qualified in a relevant accounting qualification
