Senior Accountant (Minimum 3-Month Contract)

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Accountant to join our team on a minimum 3-month contract. This role is crucial for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our financial records, particularly in relation to fixed assets and balance sheet accounts. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining financial controls, supporting statutory accounts production, and managing a dedicated finance team of 2.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Accurately and promptly reconcile and review balance sheet accounts.
  • Execute month-end journals and manage period-end depreciation routines.
  • Monthly reconciliation of the fixed asset registers with the general ledger.
  • Assist in producing annual statutory accounts.
  • Prepare audit-required information for designated areas.
  • Facilitate the preparation and filing of regulatory and statutory returns.
  • Lead and cultivate a high-performing, motivated team.
  • Assist and act as a deputy in managing the Group’s VAT submissions.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Essential: Qualified or QBE.
  • Desirable: Experience with social housing sector knowledge, leadership and team management, understanding of financial reporting and accounting standards (FRS 102 and Housing SORP), understanding of VAT and submission requirements.
  • Skills and Behaviours: Excel and data manipulation skills, strong interpersonal and ability to work collaboratively with non-professional finance colleagues.
