Experienced Assistant Accountant | Birmingham City Centre | Office Based

Gleeson is buzzing to be partnering with this growing business based in Birmingham City Centre to recruit for an Assistant Accountant, a role created due to company growth and increased workload. If you're looking for a role where you can develop your skills while getting exposure to more senior finance tasks, this could be for you.
This role will give you the chance to step up and gain hands-on experience with a range of key finance responsibilities. You'll be supporting the production of financial reports (yes, preparing not just inputting numbers), assisting with month-end processes, and working closely with internal teams to ensure accurate financial records. At the same time, you'll lean on your experience with transactional finance so if you've worked with purchase or sales ledger before, even better!

The manager of this team is keen to bring someone on board they can invest in and train, so if you've been working in finance for at least 18 months to 2 years and are ready to take the next step, this could be the opportunity to move into a more senior role.

Key Responsibilities:
Supporting the production of financial reports, including balance sheets and cash flow statements
Assisting with month-end processes and reconciliations
Working closely with the Finance Accountant to ensure the purchase ledger and sales ledger are accurate and up to date
Liaising with internal teams to maintain accurate financial records
Assisting with account reconciliations and resolving discrepancies
Supporting the Accountant with ad hoc finance tasks as required

Candidate Attributes and Skills:
Prior experience in a similar role where you've worked with purchase ledger or sales ledger, ideally both
A strong understanding of finance, ideally coming from relevant studies such as AAT or an equivalent degree
Keen to progress and develop your skills in a growing business
Excellent attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving

Benefits:
Clear progression path with training and development opportunities
Exposure to more senior finance responsibilities
A collaborative and supportive team environment
Convenient location in Birmingham City Centre with great transport links
