About the RoleAs CEO, you will be responsible for the overall leadership and management of the organisation, working closely with the Board and key stakeholders to ensure its long-term success. You will oversee strategic planning, stakeholder engagement, operational management, and member services, ensuring that the organisation continues to provide value and influence.
Key ResponsibilitiesStrategic Leadership – Develop and implement a vision for the future, ensuring the organisation remains a strong and influential voice for its members.Policy & Advocacy – Represent the industry at regional and national levels, engaging with policymakers, government, and regulators to influence policy and promote industry interests.Membership Growth & Engagement – Drive initiatives to attract and retain members, ensuring they receive high-value services, support, and opportunities for collaboration.Operational & Commercial Management – Oversee the organisation’s day-to-day operations, ensuring financial sustainability, compliance, and effective governance. As a not-for-profit organisation with a commercial element, the CEO will need to drive revenue generation while maintaining the organisation’s core purpose.Stakeholder & Industry Engagement – Build strong relationships with businesses, industry leaders, government bodies, and partner organisations to enhance the organisation’s reputation and impact.Event & Training Development – Oversee the delivery of events, training programmes, and resources that support industry professionals and drive professional development.Team Leadership – Lead by example with integrity and honesty, inspiring a small but passionate team and fostering a culture of excellence, innovation, and collaboration.

Proven Leadership Experience – Previous experience in a senior leadership role within a membership organisation, trade association, or small business where you have been at CEO level with commercial responsibilities.Advocacy & Policy Knowledge – Experience engaging with government, policymakers, and regulatory bodies to influence policy decisions.Commercial & Strategic Acumen – Ability to drive revenue generation, manage budgets, and develop long-term growth strategies.Stakeholder Engagement – Strong relationship-building skills, with the ability to represent the organisation at the highest levels.Operational Expertise – Experience overseeing the management of a small to medium-sized organisation, ensuring governance and financial sustainability.Industry Knowledge – Understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing the trade sector and its members.Excellent Communication & Public Speaking – Ability to be the face of the organisation, engaging members, stakeholders, and media effectively.Lead with Integrity – Someone who is prepared to lead by example, fostering trust and transparency with members, staff, and the Board.
