Governance Officer

Are you an organised and proactive individual with a keen eye for detail and a passion for governance? We are working with a leading housing association to recruit a Governance Officer to join their dedicated team.

About the Role

As Governance Officer, you will play a crucial role in supporting the smooth and effective operation of the organisation’s Boards and Committees. You will work closely with senior leaders and Board members, ensuring governance processes run efficiently and in line with legal and regulatory expectations.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Coordinating and distributing Board and Committee papers and meeting packs
  • Preparing agendas and attending meetings to take high-quality minutes
  • Maintaining action logs and monitoring governance processes
  • Supporting board member induction, training, and appraisal processes
  • Assisting with statutory compliance, including declarations of interest and company secretarial duties
  • Managing governance systems such as Convene and SharePoint

About You

We’re looking for someone with:

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, able to engage confidently with senior stakeholders
  • Excellent organisational and time management abilities, with attention to detail
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint) and ideally some experience of digital governance platforms
  • A proactive approach, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Ideally, some experience in governance, company secretarial work, or a regulated environment (social housing/charity sector experience is a plus, but not essential)
