Pertemps Recruitment are exclusively representing Birmingham City Football Club who is looking for a passionate, driven Health & Safety Manager that will an integral part of the team.Birmingham City FC are more than just a football club - they are a community. With a rich history and an electrifying future, their club offers a vibrant, fast-paced environment where your contributions will make a real impact.Paying an attractive salary of up to £45,000 + benefits this newly created role gives the Health and Safety Manager full autonomy within their role. You'll build strong foundations with the wider safety teams and be responsible for all three sites.Reporting the Head of Operations your duties will include:
  • Support all departments with robust H&S policies, processes, and systems.
  • Be the go-to person for health and safety queries from employees, visitors, and contractors.
  • Compile and review all H&S documentation, including risk assessments, safe systems of work, and COSHH.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of HSE legislation and industry developments.
  • Utilise relevant H&S data to generate reports and create a safer environment for all.
  • Record incidents and accidents, producing actionable data to reduce risks.
  • Collaborate with HR to support and maintain H&S training for all employees and volunteers.
  • Conduct training, toolbox talks, inductions, and investigate incidents as required.
  • Work closely with the Head Chef and food & beverage partner to uphold the highest food hygiene safety standards.
  • Ensure compliance with vehicle information (tax, MOT, etc.) as per the schedule.
  • Lead on all relevant health & safety audits, including Safe to Operate audits for the boys and girls' academies.
  • Carry out regular site inspections to ensure policies and procedures are properly implemented.
  • Monitor the implementation of the Club's Health and Safety Policies during events.
  • Conduct audits and inspections, identifying areas for improvement and reporting findings.
  • Engage with all departments to ensure successful implementation of the H&S strategy.
  • Communicate positive H&S performance to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Support the development of briefing and communication strategies to ensure the Health and Safety plan is understood and operated by all.
  • Bring new and creative thinking while maintaining exceptional H&S standards.
  • Identify operational risks or opportunities and ensure an effective response.
  • Support the HR team with occupational health issues and pregnancy risk assessments.
  • Promote equality and diversity within the workplace, fostering an inclusive culture for all.
Qualifications Needed:
  • NEBOSH (National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health) or equivalent H&S qualification
  • IOSH (Managing Safely)
Skills & Abilities:
  • Experience in managing health and safety for large / multi site operations
  • Understanding of data protection legislation and systems
  • Proficiency in H&S systems (risk assessments, COSHH, etc.)
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Basic IT skills, including Microsoft Office
