OverviewOur client is seeking an experienced Employee Relations Manager to oversee and enhance employee relations across the region. This role is pivotal in fostering a positive work environment, promoting early intervention, and facilitating informal resolutions when appropriate.
Key Responsibilities
- Governance: Implement a consultative approach to employee relations, empowering managers to make informed, risk-assessed decisions while ensuring adherence to best practises.
- Legal Compliance: Oversee all HR practises to guarantee legal compliance.
- Policy Development: Continuously develop and maintain HR policies, ensuring they are up-to-date with legislation and resonate with our organisational values.
- Conflict Resolution: Mediate and resolve conflicts informally, as necessary.
- Training: Collaborate with the Head of HR to deliver training to managers on employee relations practises and policy updates.
- Advisory Role: Provide expert advice on people policies and employment law to stakeholders, supporting meetings as required.
- Employee Handbook: Assist in the development and rollout of a digital employee handbook and induction process.
- Investigations: Ensure high-quality, consistent investigations and provide training in conjunction with the Head of HR.
- Union Relations: Manage the daily interactions between the organisation, Employee Voice Forums, and unions, fostering effective collaboration.
- Change Support: Advise HRBPs and ER advisers on legal and policy aspects related to change management projects.
Qualifications and SkillsEssential:
- Strong understanding of UK employment legislation.
- Proven experience in HR, particularly in managing complex employee relations casework.
- Trade Union experience.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Strong prioritisation and organisational skills.
- Ability to build relationships with diverse stakeholders.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to adapt to change and manage competing priorities.
Desirable:
- CIPD qualification.
- Previous line management experience.
- Experience within a unionised manufacturing, transport, or engineering environment.
