Programme Centre of Excellence Specialist

Here’s what you’ll be doing

You will be at the heart of the Centre of Excellence, ensuring the smooth operation of the Programme Assurance and Appraisal functions. This involves supporting the implementation of best practices, fostering strong relationships with stakeholders, and maintaining high standards of governance.

  • Reviewing and advising on business cases: Assess risks and provide insights to decision-makers.
  • Stakeholder engagement: Develop strong collaborative relationships with our directorates and stakeholders to achieve agreed outcomes.
  • Promoting the Assurance Framework: Advocate for the use and benefits of the framework to ensure a consistent approach.
  • Providing programme/project support: Deliver fast-track support services through workshops and tailored approaches.
  • Managing internal reporting: Develop processes to meet reporting needs and ensure deadlines are achieved.
  • Document control: Implement procedures for baseline management, version control, and distribution.

You need these qualifications

  • Project delivery or change environment experience: You have a degree or relevant experience in this field.
  • Development of standards and best practices: Proven experience in creating and implementing process documents and flow diagrams.
  • Stakeholder management skills: You have a track record of successfully managing multiple stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical skills: Ability to process and analyze data efficiently.
  • Fast-paced environment experience: You thrive in dynamic settings and can manage multiple priorities.

It would be nice if

  • Formal qualifications: Holding certifications like Prince 2, P3O, or Agile is a plus.
  • Knowledge of HM Treasury Green Book: Familiarity with the Five Business Case Model is advantageous.
  • Public or private sector experience: Experience in portfolio management or project delivery in diverse environments is beneficial.
  • Advanced IT skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including SharePoint and collaboration tools like MS Teams.
  • Innovative thinking: Ability to embrace change and propose forward-thinking solutions.
