Macildowie is thrilled to present an exciting opportunity for a skilled Payroll Assistant to join our client's finance team at their head office in Birmingham. This role offers the chance to be part of a dynamic and fast-paced business support function, where you'll manage the end-to-end payroll cycle across four locations.

The RoleAs Payroll Assistant, you'll be an integral part of the team, handling payroll from data input through to final submission, ensuring smooth and accurate payroll processing each month. With data from the clocking-in system to manage, you'll validate information, handle deductions and overtime, and process everything through Sage Payroll. You'll create payment files for banking, submit information to HMRC, and support employees and managers with payroll queries.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accurately process payroll data, ensuring all deductions, overtime, and pay rates are correct
  • Calculate gross-to-net payments using Sage Payroll and prepare payment files for bank processing
  • Handle new starter and leaver information, tax code updates, and statutory pay calculations
  • Serve as the first point of contact for payroll queries from employees and line managers, providing clear and helpful guidance
  • Complete monthly HMRC submissions and ensure compliance with changing payroll regulations
  • Prepare payroll reports for the finance team and assist with year-end tasks as required
