Payroll Assistant | East Birmingham | Hybrid Working | Up To £16ph

Macildowie Recruitment is excited to be partnering with a leading business in East Birmingham to find a Payroll Assistant on a temp-to-perm basis. This is an excellent opportunity to join a supportive HR & Payroll team with a hybrid working model and competitive hourly rate of up to £15 per hour.

Role Highlights:

  • Hourly Rate: Up to £16 per hour dependant on experience
  • Location: East Birmingham, with free on-site parking
  • Working Model: Hybrid (3 days in the office, 2 days remote)
  • Systems: Zellis for payroll processing, Certify for expenses

About the Role:

As Payroll Assistant, you will ensure smooth and accurate payroll processing each month, support the business with timely payroll-related resolutions, and bring efficiency to the team through continuous improvement. Working alongside dedicated HR professionals, you will help maintain compliance and confidentiality, and provide valuable support for key projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process monthly payroll and manage year-end activities, ensuring compliance with statutory regulations.
  • Assist with audit processes and implement enhancements to uphold best practices.
  • Act as a key contact for payroll queries, delivering efficient and customer-focused solutions.
  • Process and verify employee expense reports via Certify, ensuring adherence to company guidelines.
  • Foster positive relationships with stakeholders, providing high-quality payroll services.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Experience with end-to-end payroll processing and familiarity with Zellis or similar payroll software.
  • Strong understanding of statutory payroll regulations and deadlines.
  • Detail-oriented, customer-focused, and comfortable working within tight deadlines.
  • Experience with HR and expense management systems would be beneficial.
