Madisons Recruitment are currently recruiting for a Business Development Manager on behalf of a reputable food company in the Midlands area. They are looking for a BDM covering the Midlands, working roughly from Mid-morning to late evenings, due to the customer base.

As a business development manager, you will be responsible for driving business growth, identifying new business opportunities and developing a network of contacts to attract new clients in order to generate revenue, improve profitability and help the business grow.

Responsibilities:

  • Identify and prospect potential clients.
  • Acquire new business, both from a pre-defined prospect list of potential customers and from your own initiative
  • Develop customer accounts and maintain good relations with the customer
  • Field Based- You must take ownership of your territory, managing existing business and proactively signing up new business to meet agreed sales targets and KPI’s
  • Prospect the territory efficiently seeking new business and explore all opportunities with existing customers through sensible sales analysis.
  • Build and manage internal and external business relationships and achieve sales and service level targets.
  • Keep yourself up to date with new product development, market trends and competition, aiming for maximum profitability.
  • Generate leads and cold call prospective customers
  • Meet with customers/clients
  • Foster and develop relationships with customers/clients
  • Understand the needs of your customers and be able to respond effectively with a plan of how to meet these
  • Think strategically - seeing the bigger picture and setting aims and objectives in order to develop and improve the business
  • Liaise with the finance team, warehousing and logistics departments as appropriate
  • Seek ways of improving the way the business operates
  • Keep abreast of trends and changes in the business world.
  • Negotiate pricing with customers
  • Increase sales of the business

Requirements:

  • Proficiency in English.
  • Candidates must be hardworking and self-driven to get sales and be able to put in the leg work to get the sales. Some existing accounts may be provided, however candidates must be strong at building business and gaining new customers- cold calling.
  • The role is out in the field (not telesales from home) and you will be required to attend meetings at head office circa once a month.
  • Depending on the area you are visiting and distance from home, there may be occasion hotel stays.
